I think the old judge was wise. The old man utilized the woman's example to show her that she is capable of doing it by her own. In this vein, he helped the woman to find the determination in herself to use it for her marriage. Another point that he was wise is that he did not specifically tell her what to do. By giving some words about what she has shown to the old man, he rendered the woman to contemplate on her own example. He gave her not only a confidence and belief in herself, but the room for her to think and flexibly manage the problems every time she and her husband would face.
E-2. I do not think that going against your love is the way it is in life. From my perspective, marriage does not really mean so much if the couple does not love each other. It might serve as a good form of being in a society and having a social life, for example, but this should be seen only as an advantage that a couple can have, not the purpose itself. And I do not think as well that women love more strongly than men. Women are more sensitive about their emotions in general, but this does not mean that they are always dedicative to love. Just like the tale of the Ethiopian wife, there are a lot of tales that a prince taking a perilous journey to find his sweetheart. It is not the sex that tells one's determination to love but the identity of an individual.
D- Thanks for you writing.I appreciated it that you have thought carefully and logically.you have given two aspects of the reason that support you main idea.and I agree with you the juge is helping woman gain determination and confidence to confront her marriage.but I think judge's behavior is kind of unreasonable , what if the lion truly hurt the woman?
ReplyDeleteE-I agree with you that it is not accurate that women love more strongly than men .Love is equal for couples, both husband and wife want to acquire care and love from each other. It also depends on their feelings towards their lovers.

DeleteObviously the lion could hurt her or even kill her instantly, but the point is that she was strategic that she tamed the beast easy enough to pull a strand of hair from it. So with patience and determination grounded, effective strategy can become a mighty power.

D: I agree with you and was impressed by your last sentence. However, it is true that the old judge ignored the danger of being killed by a lion. He could suggest the wife safer way.

Also, it is hard to measure how deep you love and how much you love someone is a relative thing. By the way, I'm sorry I'm not so sure what you want to say in first sentence. Can you give more specific example to illustrate this sentence?:)

DeleteI think I slightly misunderstood the question because I thought the first part of the item E-2 asks whether is is sometimes acceptable to marry someone even if the man does not love her partner. I got it but still it doesn't make mine a totally off- topic one. Thanks for your point though!
