Kim, Jusung / Ch2 Initial Draft Essay / 2017 Summer Session Prose & Paragraphs

Eros

Love is everywhere. Love can exist in all places, and in all relationships. In the freezing Antarctica, or boiling Africa, there could be love, and it could be within a family, between friends, or lovers. J. B. Lotz classified love into three; the Eros, the Agape, and the Philia, which respectively are related to passion, commitment, and intimacy. However, I think that the most essential and fundamental kind of love is the 'Erotic love', which is about the relationship between two lovers because it is the most beautiful, and the most powerful. I understand that there are different kinds of love, but in this essay, I will concentrate on narrow definition of love; Eros. Erotic love is 'the clash of universes' which is finding affection in another universe and trying to bond the two. Because it is the clash, troubles are inevitable, and because it is between two universes, rules of other part of the world do not matter anymore. Furthermore, an erotic love is a passionate love, so it is the fruit of youth regardless of the actual age of the lovers.

Many troubles occur between the two lovers and the whole list of the troubles that can possibly happen would be overwhelmingly long to mention in this essay. However, other people beside the two lovers cannot judge what is happening in the 'clash' because in their own universe, they have a somewhat similar, but of their own rules. For example, there is no absolute judgement on how often they should contact each other on the phone. Love is something very special to the lovers those specific people involved, and other people sometimes do not understand them.

An erotic love is the very fruit of youth regardless of the actual age of the lover because it is the passion itself. I think my youth is the most precious jewel of my soul although it finally fades away. It is like a flower that is beautiful but soon will wither away, but it still lasts forever in one's soul. I once asked myself "What could be the worthiest thing to do in youth?", and answered that it is to love. Nobody forgets their lovers because they are or were the most precious person in a certain time of their life, and had affected their souls in multiple ways. This is also a reason why I always do my best to the present love. Not to make any regrets on it.

It is a rough draft..

  1. I liked how you began the esaay. My only concern is you might have problem in concluding the essay. The writing seems to have none of your opinion but a definition of Eros. I think clear opinion should be introudce in the beginning
