Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive – Dalai Lama

Main Idea: A relationship could be improved if these traits of birth-order are kept in mind.

1) If the theory of birth-order is kept in mind you would keep distance of someone who is of this particular trait. (For example two only child dating)

2) It is difficult to pair up someone who is the oldest of the sibling to someone who is the youngest.

3) An only child is used to receiving all of their parents love, attention and approval but an only child don't have much experience or opportunity in giving or sharing their attention or love to others.

Pamela Withers: talks about the topic on how birth order affects both the personality and how suitable you are with your partner. Also, only child are used to receiving all their parents love, attention and approval but only child do not have much opportunities in giving the attention or love to others. The oldest child of the family is usually the perfectionist of the siblings and is at times hard to make friends. It is difficult to find a match from "same sex" siblings who are both the oldest child. This is because both are too independent and likes to deal with problems on their own. The perfect match of someone who is the oldest child is someone who is the youngest child of their family. The only child who's a girl usually tends to be independent but is able to adjust and adapt to her surroundings if needed. As for an only child who is a boy tries to find a solution within his wife to make life easier without receiving much results. Male only child has a hard time keeping up with a female only child therefore they are the most difficult to match. But a male only child best matches someone who is the younger or the oldest of the sibling especially brothers.

A relationship could be improved if these traits of birth-order are kept in mind in order for you to understand your significant others behavior. The authors idea isn't accurate but I still can sympathize and see how this theory could be true. Currently I am dating someone who is the oldest child of 2 siblings who has a younger brother. By experience, and from seeing people around me I believe it's true that an only child best fits a female who is the oldest or the middle child of the sibling usually of brothers.
