Kim taekmin / Chapter 2 initial draft (on pages 52 and 53) / Summer 56

We need to keep our body in good posture for health reasons. If our posture isn't optimal our muscles get more stress to keep our body balanced. By these extra stresses coming from the bad postures, some muscles in our body might get tight and inflexible. Over time, these bad changes could impair our body's ability to deal with the gravity and forces on our body. By that, bad postures cause extra wear and tear on our joints, ligaments and even make our organs like lungs become less efficient. There also could be direct pain caused by the bad posture. Back pain can be derived from scoliosis which is linked with bad posture and headaches can occur due to the extra tension on our body as mentioned before. Physical problems aren't the only problem caused by bad posture. Posture can even influence our mind. For example, I found a study at Ohio State University in 2003 that states, "When participants in the study nodded in agreements or shook their heads to signal disagreement, these actions affected their opinions without them realizing." And in the same study showed that when participants hugged themselves they were sometimes able to reduce their pain, which shows clearly that our posture have some influence on our mind. Bad postures would hurt not only our physical health but also our mental health. So, to stay healthy we need to keep in mind that we need to avoid bad posture and take some time to check our posture when it comes up to our mind.
